THE RUBY

An exceptional gemstone, the ruby captivates with the intensity of its red hue, a symbol of passion and character. Belonging to the corundum family, it is one of the rarest and most sought-after stones in jewelry. A bold alternative to the diamond engagement ring, it brings strength and uniqueness to every creation.

Its vibrant color, ranging from rosy red to deep red, captures the light with intensity and reveals the stone’s full richness.

Origin and characteristics

The finest rubies come from Burma, particularly the Mogok Valley, which is famous for its intensely red stones known as “pigeon’s blood.” They are also found in Sri Lanka, where rubies display brighter hues, as well as in Mozambique, which is now recognized for the quality and depth of its gemstones.

Rubies very often contain natural inclusions, which are a sign of their authenticity. Perfectly clear stones, especially those weighing more than 4 carats, remain extremely rare.

How do you choose a ruby?

When choosing a ruby, the most important factor is the quality of its color. The most sought-after stones feature an intense, deep, and luminous red. Clarity and brilliance are the next factors to consider when evaluating a stone.

Because of their rarity, it is sometimes necessary to prioritize color quality over size or weight. Round and cushion cuts thus offer a beautiful balance between elegance and the stone’s visual appeal.
