How to find your perfect ring size
Finding your ideal ring size starts with an accurate measurement, taken in store with a professional ring sizer or at home using a measuring tape or a ring you already own. This guide explains how to measure your finger, common mistakes to avoid, how seasons and band width affect the fit, and why taking several measurements improves accuracy. You will also find a conversion chart, tips for choosing a ring as a gift and advice on resizing if needed.
Choosing the right ring size helps you wear your jewellery comfortably and securely. A well-fitting ring should slide over your knuckle without excessive resistance, then sit securely and comfortably at the base of your finger.
For an accurate measurement, visit one of our boutiques in Paris, Lyon or Lille. You can try on several rings and have your finger measured to find the right fit. If you cannot visit, two simple methods can help you measure your ring size at home.
The most accurate method: have your finger measured in store
A professional ring sizer remains the most reliable way to determine your ring size.
At Deloison Paris, our advisers consider several factors: the band width, the shape of the ring and your everyday habits all affect how it feels on your finger. This personalised approach helps you find the right size for your jewellery.
How to measure your ring size at home
Method 1: measure your finger circumference
Use a flexible measuring tape or a narrow strip of paper.
- Wrap the tape or strip around the base of your finger without pulling it too tight.
- Mark the exact point where the two ends meet.
- Measure the resulting length in millimetres.
- This measurement approximately corresponds to your French ring size.
For example, a circumference of 52 mm corresponds to French ring size 52.
Make sure the strip can also slide over your knuckle.
Method 2: measure a ring that already fits
Choose a comfortable ring worn on the same finger as your future piece.
- Lay the ring flat on a level surface.
- Measure its inside diameter at the widest point.
- Measure only the inner space, excluding the thickness of the metal.
- Compare the measurement with our ring size chart.

If your measurement falls between two sizes, generally choose the larger size or ask our team for advice.
Tips for an accurate measurement
Finger size can vary slightly throughout the day and with temperature.
For a more accurate measurement:
- Measure your finger towards the end of the day.
- Avoid measuring when your finger is very cold or swollen.
- Repeat the measurement two or three times.
- Measure the exact finger on which you will wear the ring.
- Allow for your knuckle if it is wider than the base of your finger.
The fingers on your right and left hands are not necessarily the same size.
Which size should you choose for a wide ring?
A wedding band or ring with a wide band may feel tighter than a slim design. Depending on the piece, a slightly larger size may be more comfortable.
Our advisers consider the width and shape of each ring to help you choose the most suitable size.
How to find someone’s ring size for a gift
To keep the surprise, discreetly borrow a ring the person wears on the intended finger and measure its inside diameter.
You can also bring the ring to an appointment: our advisers can measure it accurately using a ring mandrel.
If you are unsure, contact us before placing your order.
Unsure of your ring size?
Every hand is different. If you are between sizes or choosing an engagement ring or wedding band, we recommend a professional measurement in store.
The Deloison Paris teams welcome you by appointment to try on our creations and determine your ring size. Complimentary resizing is also available, subject to the conditions applicable to your piece.
